The Beach Leisure Centre is Aberdeen's principal indoor sports and leisure complex located between the Beach Ballroom and the Linx Ice Arena on Aberdeen Esplanade, a half-mile (1 km) northeast of the city centre. Opened in 1989, its facilities include an unusually-shaped leisure pool, primarily designed for children, with waves, a fountain, rapids and four flumes, together with a fitness studio, saunas and a steam room. This centre also boasts a double-sized sports hall that is equipped for a variety of indoor sports and which regularly hosts national and international events. A full range of fitness classes is offered. There is also a crèche and café.
The Centre is run by Sport Aberdeen, a charitable trust which manages sports and leisure facilities on behalf of Aberdeen City Council.
