Rising in the foothills of Aonach Meadhoin, one of the Five Sisters of the Inverness district of Highland Council, the River Affric flows north before turning east a mile (1.5 km) west of the settlement of Altbeithe. The river passes through Loch Affric, then Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin, before joining the Abhainn Deabhag a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Fasnakyle. At this point the river becomes the River Glass.
