The Coats Observatory is located in the Oakshaw area of Paisley, Renfrewshire. Designed and built by John Honeyman in 1883 and funded by the wealthy thread making Coats family, the Victorian observatory records information on astronomical and meteorological data as well as having a satellite picture receiver. It has public telescope viewing on Thursday evenings.
