Located in former bank premises in the centre of Fort William, the West Highland Museum is one of the oldest museums in the Highlands. Housing an international renowned collection of Jacobite memorabilia, along with a miscellany of interesting items from around the Highlands and islands, the museum retains a more traditional approach than many of its modern counterparts elsewhere. Along with a series of discrete collections gifted over the years, the West Highland Museum explores the social and natural history of the area.
Dating back to 1922, when it was founded by a group of local people, this museum continues to be run by an independent charitable trust.
