A small harbour comprising inner and outer basins on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth, Dysart Harbour dates from the early 17th century. It lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) southwest of the village centre. However, Dysart is known to have been a port in 1450, served by a pier at Pan Ha', trading with Scandinavia and the Low Countries. Ships were built here from 1764 until c.1900. The inner wet dock was constructed on the site of a former quarry in 1831 and the chisel marks of the quarrymen can still be seen on the rock face above. Sailor's Walk runs along this cliff. Commercial activity ceased in 1929 and it lay derelict until 1967 when the harbour was taken on by Dysart Sailing Club who lease it from Fife Council. B-listed since 1971, it is now used by pleasure craft and a few inshore fishing boats. The Council completed a significant dredging of the inner harbour in 2005 to improve its utility.
