A southeastern suburb (or precinct) of Glenrothes in Fife, Pitteuchar is situated to the north of the Lochty Burn. Prior to the building of the New Town of Glenrothes in the 1950s, two farms occupied this area; namely Wester and Easter Pitteuchar. Fife College (which began as Glenrothes Technical College), the Glamis Centre (with a library, shops and a post office) are located in Pitteuchar. There are two primary schools; Pitteuchar West and Pitteuchar East. For the most part, the roads take their names from Scottish castles (Altyre, Ardross, Balnagowan, Beaufort, Blair, Braemar, Cluny, Colliston, Delgatie, Duart, Dunbeath, Dunstaffnage, Fingask, Glamis, Glendevon, Inveraray, Lovat, Megginch, Myres, Skibo, Tantallon and Wemyss). Crystal's Arena (an ice rink, bowling, snooker and entertainment complex) opened here is 1985 but closed in 1993 and was replaced by a housing development named Crystal Gait.
