Grangemouth Rail Freight Terminal

Located between Grangemouth and Falkirk in Falkirk Council Area, the Grangemouth Rail Freight Terminal is Scotland's newest intermodal freight-handling hub. The terminal was begun in 1999 with a £10 million Freight Facilities Grant from the Scottish Executive to the logistics company TDG Nexus, designed to move freight traffic off the road network. The original site is now owned by DB Schenker but the rail terminal is now shared with Stobart Rail Freight and Malcolm Rail

Containers are transferred from road to rail, and moved from the Port of Grangemouth through the Eurocentral Rail Terminal and the Coatbridge Freightliner Terminal and onwards via the West Coast Main Line.
