Coinyie House Close Garden is hidden between Blackfriars Street and South Gray Close, behind the Royal Mile, in Edinburgh's Old Town. Coinyie House served as the Scottish Mint, producing coins from 1574 until the country gave up its right to produce coins under the Act of Union of 1707. The building was demolished in 1877 leaving an overgrown courtyard which was redeveloped c.2010 with the support of Edinburgh World Heritage and the City of Edinburgh Council.
