The oldest of three bridges which cross the Whiteadder Water at Chirnsidebridge in the Scottish Borders, this
structure was constructed in 1782 and comprises three spans supported on two segmental arches and a semi-
circular flood arch to the west. There are pedestrian refuges in the middle of the bridge. However Chirnside
Bridge is now accessible to pedestrians only, having been bypassed for road traffic by the David Hume Bridge
that was built to the south in 1968.
