Cattle Market at Newtown St Boswells

A settlement in the Scottish Borders, Newtown St. Boswells is situated on the Bowden Burn above its confluence with the River Tweed and 3 miles (4 km) southeast of Melrose. The town developed as an important railway junction and market centre close to St. Boswells' Green. Although the railway is long gone, Newtown St. Boswells thrives as an administrative centre. From 1975 to 1996, it was the centre of Ettrick and Lauderdale District and of Borders Region. It is now home to the headquarters of the Scottish Borders Council and holds an annual agricultural show in July.

This place-name is often erroneously recorded as Newton St. Boswells.
