Auchincruive
South Ayrshire

A scattered settlement and estate in South Ayrshire, Auchincruive lies to the southeast of St. Quivox and about 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Ayr. The settlement of Auchincruive Holdings lies to the south of the River Ayr, beyond Oswald's Bridge. Previously associated with coal-mining, with five pits still operational in 1950, the area has undergone some development and is now home to a campus of the Scottish Agricultural College and Research Institute. This was previously the West of Scotland Agricultural College, which was established in 1899, came here in 1927 and amalgamated into the current institution in 1990. Oswald Hall, which was designed by Robert Adam, lies on the estate and today serves as a conference centre.

Auchincruive Station lay on the Ayr to Mauchline Branch at St Quivox.
