Dalhousie

A name associated with the Earls of Dalhousie and their seat, Dalhousie Castle in Midlothian. Sir William Ramsay de Dalwolsey appears in 1296. Another William Ramsay was created Earl of Dalhousie in 1633. The name appears in Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada), named after George Ramsay, the 9th Earl of Dalhousie.
