Extended Information
Then serving as a Lieutenant on HMS Endymion, the traveller and author Basil Hall (1788 - 1844) was amongst the naval party which landed on Rockall on 8th September 1811, and a feature named Hall's Ledge lies below the W-E trending Apex Ridge. The 1955 landing party comprised Lt. Commander Desmond Scott of the Royal Navy, Sergeant Brian Peel and Corporal Alexander Fraser of the Royal Marines and James Fisher, a civilian naturalist. A geological map of the Rockall was published by the Institute of Geological Sciences in 1975.
