(Greeta River, Abhainn Ghrioda)

A river of E Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, the River Creed (occasionally Greeta River, Gael: Abhainn Ghrioda) flows into Stornoway Harbour a half-mile (1 km) south southeast of Stornoway, having formed from headstreams in the centre of the island, just to the north of the Pentland Road, 5 miles (8 km) west of the town. Along its course of 7 miles (11 km) the river flows through Loch an Ois and then Loch a' Chlachain, together with the wooded policies of Lews Castle.
