Holm Point

(Rubha Thùilm)

A headland on the east coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Holm Point (Gael: Rubha Thùilm) lies to the east of the entrance to Stornoway Harbour, opposite Arnish Point, 2 miles (3 km) southeast of the town centre. A monument to the Iolaire Disaster of 1919 overlooks the Beasts of Holm, to the east of the headland, while a substantial waste-water treatment plant lies behind the headland, powered by a stately line of ten 5 kW wind turbines.
