A recreational area in the Buchan district of N Aberdeenshire, Aden Country Park occupies an area of 93 ha (230 acres) between the villages of Old Deer and Mintlaw, 10 miles (16 km) west of Peterhead. Formerly part of a wooded estate which comprises the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum, a wildlife centre, caravan park and camping site, the country park was opened by Viscount Whitelaw (1918-99), a nephew of one of the last owners of the estate. The now-ruined Aden House was built in 1832 on the site of a former castle that was a stronghold of the Keith and Russell families. The South Ugie River passes through the park.
