Coul House

The former seat of a cadet branch of the Mackenzie family, Coul House lies near Contin in Easter Ross, Highland Council Area. Built in 1819-21, the present house is possibly the third building to be erected by the Mackenzies on this site. Major-General Sir Alexander Mackenzie was Provincial Commander-in-Chief of Bengal for the East India Company. The house is now a hotel.
