Montreathmont Forest

A significant area of coniferous forest, Montreathmont lies in the Valley of Strathmore, 4½ miles (7 km) southwest of Brechin and 7½ miles (12 km) east northeast of Forfar. Once used for hunting, evidenced by a visit by King James VI in 1617, the forest is today a commercial coniferous plantation managed by Forestry and Land Scotland.
