Pencraig Stone

This large standing stone reaches a height of around 3.4m (11 feet) and is nearly 0.9m (3 feet) in breadth. It bears no markings, has a pointed top and is three-sided making it triangular in cross-section. It is often missed by travellers on the East Linton and Haddington stretch of the busy A1 Trunk Road, even though it is located only 30m (98 feet) to the north of the roadside, in a cultivated field on the east slope of Pencraig Hill. It is located less than a half-mile (1 km) southwest of East Linton and only 1¼ miles (2 km) north of the important hill-fort Traprain Law.
