Warbeth Cemetery


(Warebeth Cemetery)

A cemetery surrounding the remains of an old church on the southwest coast of Orkney mainland, Warbeth (or Warebeth) Cemetery is the burial ground for Stromness which is located a mile (1.5 km) to the east. Overlooking Hoy Sound, the cemetery is the last resting place of sailors and airmen from two World Wars as well as notable Stromness residents such as author George Mackay Brown (1921-96) and local artist Ian McInnes.
