A small district and former ward of S Edinburgh, Mayfield comprises part of S Newington, centred around Mayfield Road and Mayfield Gardens, 1¼ miles (2 km) south southeast of the city centre. The grand Mayfield Salisbury Parish Church stands at the corner of West Mayfield and Mayfield Road. Originally a Free Church, it was built in the French Gothic style by architect Hippolyte Blanc between 1876-9. The original Mayfield Church (1878), located to the southeast, is now Craigmillar Park Church.
