Royal Exchange Square

Royal Exchange Square lies between Queen Street and Buchanan Street in Glasgow's Merchant City. This elegant pedestrianised square surrounds the Gallery of Modern Art (formerly the Royal Exchange, 1778) and is also the site of the Duke of Wellington's Statue (1840). It is at the centre of Glasgow's cafe culture. To the west is the Greek-revival former Royal Bank of Scotland building (1827).
