A modestly-sized loch lying in Wester Ross, Loch Tollaidh is located in moorland to the south of the A832 road, 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Poolewe and 2½ miles (4 km) east northeast of Gairloch. With a maximum depth of 26m (86 feet), the loch is just under a mile (1.5 km) in length - from west to east - and 730m (800 yards) wide. There is crannog close to the northern shore, which is said to have been the flashpoint of a conflagration which led to the lands of Gairloch being taken from the Macleods by the Mackenzies. There is now a commercial fish-farm in the loch.
