Duck Pond, Camperdown Park, Dundee

A public park on the northern outskirts of Dundee, Camperdown Park comprises the house and former policies of the Earls of Camperdown. Camperdown House was designed by the Edinburgh architect William Burn (1789 - 1870) and completed in 1828 for Robert Haldane-Duncan, 1st Earl of Camperdown (1785 - 1859), and son of Admiral Duncan (1731 - 1804) who defeated the French at the Battle of Camperdown in 1797. Extending to 418 ha (1035 acres), Camperdown opened as a public park in 1946 having been acquired by Dundee Corporation. It has a wildlife centre, with more than 300 animals, and recreational facilities including an 18-hole golf course. Camperdown Park is the largest of Dundee's parklands.

Camperdown Leisure Complex, which includes the Dundee Ice Arena built in 2000, eats into the easternmost corner of the park.

The Dundee City plant nursery is also located here, and the estate gives its name to the cultivar Ulmus glabra 'Camperdownii', or weeping Camperdown Elms, which can only reproduce through grafting but are now to be found around the world.
