Langaton Point

A rocky headland in the northwest of the small island of Stroma, Langaton Point lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) southwest of Stroma Lighthouse and a half-mile (0.8 km) northwest of Nethertown. It looks out across the Pentland Firth. The Finnish steamship Gertrude was ran aground on the extensive rocks here in thick fog on 1st June 1934. All of the twenty-two people on board were saved but the ship broke up soon after and slid into the deep water to the west.
