'S Airde Beinn


('S Airdhe Beinn, 'S Àirde Beinn)

A peculiar rocky hill in the Mishnish district of N Mull in the Inner Hebrides, 'S Airde Beinn (also 'S Airdhe Beinn) represents a crown of summits, reaching a height of 295m (967 feet), surrounding a small loch, Lochan 's Airde Beinn. Located a mile (1.5 km) north of Loch Carnain an Amais and 2¼ miles (3.5 km) west southwest of Tobermory, it comprises a microgabbro plug, of Tertiary age, which rises above the surrounding volcanic lavas, surrounded by cliffs.
