Barkin Isles


(Na h-Eileanan Bairclin)

A group of islands in the mouth of Loch Leurbost on the east coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, the Barkin Isles (Gael: Na h-Eileanan Bairclin) lie a mile (1.5 km) south of Ranish and 6 miles (10 km) south southwest of Stornoway. They comprise Tannray (the largest of the group), Risay, Vatarsay, Orasay Island, Seumas Cleite and Sgeirean an Arbhair, together with several small islets and rocks.
