Shuna

(Shuna Island)

Located within Loch Linnhe, Argyll and Bute, Shuna is a privately owned island covering an area of 155 ha (383 acres). Separated from the mainland by the Sound of Shuna, the island reaches 71m (233 feet) in height at Tom an t-Seallaidh in the north but is characterised by a table topped hill at its southern end, a small loch, Loch Shuna and Castle Shuna, the remains of which can still be seen at the southern end of the island. The island is uninhabited except for a small farm holding, from where the island's 300 sheep are tended. There is another larger Shuna located 27 miles (44 km) to the south southwest.
