Kaim Dam

(Kaim Reservoir)

A small reservoir in the hills of W Renfrewshire, Kaim Dam (or Kaim Reservoir) lies 2¼ miles (2.5 km) north northwest of Lochwinnoch. There is a dam at the eastern end with a water-treatment works below the dam, which was subject to a significant upgrade in 2012. Kaim Dam supplies drinking water to Lochwinnoch, Kilmacolm and surrounding areas. At times of low rainfall, water is abstracted from the River Calder above Muirshiel and carried to Kaim Dam by an underground pipe.
