Bonny Water

A small river of North Lanarkshire and Falkirk Council Areas, the Bonny Water rises close to the source of the River Kelvin at Kelvinhead, but flows in the opposite direction alongside the Forth and Clyde Canal between Banknock and Cumbernauld. It merges with the larger Red Burn to the north of Castlecary and continues flowing east northeast alongside the canal to Bonnybridge before falling into the River Carron after a further ¾ mile (1.2 km). Its length is 6½ miles (10.5 km).
