(Lenziemill Industrial Estate)

A sizeable industrial district of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, Lenziemill extends along the southeastern margin of the Glasgow-Falkirk railway. Divided by the B8039 road (Jane's Brae), activities ongoing here include logistics, car services, plastics manufacturing, clothing and waste management. Lenziemill was named after a corn mill on the Luggie Water, which gave its name to a nearby farmstead, the Cumbernauld Brick and Pipe Works was built for a mile (1.5 km) to the northeast in 1874, at what is now the farthest extent of the area. From 1882, this plant exploited local fireclay brought by tramway from a mine at Glencryan. The brickworks closed in 1969.
