Longa

(Longa Island)

The uninhabited island of Longa is located at the mouth of Loch Gairloch, a mile (1.5 km) south of Rubha Ban, in Wester Ross. It extends to 126 ha (311 acres) and rises to a height of 70m (230 feet) at Druim am Eilean. In the early 19th Century, Longa had a small fishing community but, by the end of that century, the island had become deserted.
