Meall Dearg

Meall Dearg, (Gaelic, meaning 'Red Hill') is the lower of the two peaks of the 2-mile (3-km) Aonach Eagach ridge. Rising to a height of 953m (3127 feet) on property owned by the National Trust for Scotland, Meall Dearg was the last hill to be climbed by Rev. A. E. Robertson, in his quest to be the first person to climb all of the Munros or mountains over 914m (3000 feet) in height. There is a mountain called Meall Dearg Choire nam Muc 12½ miles (20 km) to the west northwest, and another Meall Dearg 14 miles (23 km) to the southwest.
