White Loch

(Whiteloch Reservoir)

A lochan and small reservoir on the Mearns Moor of East Renfrewshire, the White Loch (or Whiteloch Reservoir) is situated at the side of the B769 road, a half-mile (1 km) east of Long Loch and 2½ miles (4 km) south southeast of Neilston. Retained by an earth embankment dam, it is operated by Scottish Water supplying drinking-water to the Stewarton, Dunlop, Lugton and part of Fenwick via Corsehouse Water Treatment Works. It extends to an area of 8.6 ha (21 acres). It also supports a brown trout fishery, managed by Stewarton Angling Club.
