Faskally Wood

Owned and managed by the Forestry Commission as part of the Tay Forest Park, Faskally Wood lies on the eastern shore of Loch Faskally, 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Pitlochry. It formed part of the policies of Faskally House, with trees planted from the mid-19th century. When Faskally House became a training school for foresters in the 1950s, the wood was augmented by experimental plantings.

Since 2004, Faskally Wood has regularly been the location for the Enchanted Forest attraction, a choreographed light and sound installation which takes place annually in October and November. Centred around the small Loch Dunmore, it features spectacular illumination of water, trees and vegetation. Following an initial show, visitors are encouraged to walk around the loch and through the forest enjoying further exhibits. Forestry and Land Scotland regard this attraction as an important showcase for the natural resource of which they are custodian.
