Bridge over the River Earn

A three-arch bridge which crosses the River Earn to the north of the village of the same name, the Bridge of Earn was designed by John Rennie (1761 - 1821) and built in 1819-22 by James Jardine. Its total span exceeds 68m (225 feet). The bridge was widened 1933-35, obscuring much of Rennie's original work with a concrete skirt which does at least pay homage to the original. It now carries the A912 road northwest, having been bypassed by the M90 motorway, which crosses the river a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the southeast.
