A summit within the Moorfoot Hills, Emly Bank rises to 605m (1984 feet) on the boundary of Midlothian and the Scottish Borders, of that section of the former which descends deeply into the latter, a half-mile (0.8 km) northeast of Bowbeat Hill and 3 miles (5 km) east of Eddleston. Bowbeat Hill Wind Farm extends onto this hill.
