Located within the Atholl Palace Hotel, a former hydropathic establishment which occupies a prominent site in Pitlochry (Perth and Kinross), the Atholl Palace Museum tells the story of the Hydropathic movement, the hotel from its construction in 1874 to the present day and its architect Perth-based Andrew Heiton (1823-94). The museum is located in eleven former service rooms in the basement of the hotel, including storerooms, a wine cellar and a dairy, which has been retained in its original state. Rooms have been laid out to recreate a hydropathic treatment room, a luxurious guest bedroom and bathroom from the Victorian era, together with a servant's bedroom from round the same time, an Edwardian boot-room, and linen-maid's work room. An audio-visual presentation describes the history of the hotel.
