(Eilean Bhalaig)

A low-lying drying island on the east coast of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Vallaquie Island (Gael: Eilean Bhalaig) is located a half-mile (1 km) south of Lochmaddy. It barely reaches 10m (33 feet) above sea level and is connected to North Uist by a causeway from the south and, in the northwest, by mud flats at low tide. The island is uninhabited.
