Gighay


(Gioghaigh)

One of a group of uninhabited islands located off the northeast coast of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, Gighay (Gael: Gioghaigh) has an area of 96 ha (237 acres) and rises steeply to 95m (311 feet) immediately to the northeast of Hellisay and 2½ miles (4 km) southwest of Hellisay. Gighay is owned by the Scottish Ministers (the government).
