White Hill is the highest point on a ridge in the W Scottish Borders which lies close to the boundary with South Lanarkshire and 2½ miles (4 km) south southeast of Biggar. Its summit reaches a height of 399m (1309 feet) and features the remains of one of the largest palisaded enclosures in Britain, which is a scheduled ancient monument. This comprises an Iron-Age fort and settlement, with two concentric trenches which would have supported a wooden defensive barrier and contains an oval area of 0.7 ha (1.7 acres).
Another hill-fort known as the Mitchelhill Rings lie on a spur to the east.
