A modest summit in the centre of Skye in the Inner Hebrides, Skriaig rises to 396m (1299 feet) 2½ miles (4 km) southwest of Portree. There are a pair of communications masts close to its summit, one of which is a significant television transmitter serving the West Highlands, Inner Hebrides and southern islands of the Outer Hebrides. This station switched from analogue to digital-only transmission on 28th July 2010.
