The largest of the remote Flannan Islands, Eilean Mor rises to 88m (288 feet) immediately to the northwest of Eilean Tighe and 21 miles (34 km) northwest of Gallan Head on the west coast of Lewis. The Flannan Isles Lighthouse lies on its northern shore, the island being uninhabited since the lighthouse was automated in 1971.
