Red Burn

A headstream of the Bonny Water, the Red Burn has its source in the Fannyside Lochs of North Lanarkshire, and flows west as the Glencryan Burn and then north northeast through Cumbernauld, passing through the Vault Glen and the policies of Cumbernauld House. It continues northeast to Castlecary, and then under the Forth and Clyde Canal, before turning east to become the Bonny Water in the vicinity of Haggs, having completed a course of approximately 5 miles (8 km). For a half-mile of that course it forms the boundary between North Lanarkshire and Falkirk Council Areas.
