Balnagask Headland


(Girdleness Plateau)

A peninsula of E Aberdeen City, Balnagask Headland (once also known as the Girdleness Plateau) lies to the east of Torry, between the mouth of the River Dee and Nigg Bay, 1½ miles (2.5 km) east southeast of the city centre. It terminates at Girdle Ness with its prominent Stevenson lighthouse. Providing a nature reserve and an important area of recreational green space to the citizens of Aberdeen, Torry Point Battery and Balnagask Golf Course are also located here.
