Carn a' Mhaim

Deriving its name from the Gaelic for 'peak of the large rounded hill' Carn a' Mhaim rises to a height of 1037m (3402 feet) in the southern Cairngorms, Aberdeenshire, west of Lairig Ghru and south of Ben Macdui. It is classified as a Munro and there are two summits; a cairn marks lower summit, which reaches 1014m (3326 feet) a quarter-mile (0.4 km) to the southeast of the main summit. Predominantly composed of granite, it tapers to a long ridge in the north. The River Dee lies immediately to the west.
