Loch Riecawr


(Loch Recar)

A loch and reservoir in SE South Ayrshire, Loch Riecawr (or Loch Recar) lies amongst the Carrick Forest, on the border with East Ayrshire, 8½ miles (14 km) south southwest of Dalmellington. Retained by a concrete gravity dam, this reservoir is operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water and covers an area of 82 ha (202 acres). It releases water into Loch Gower, which is the source of the Whitespout Lane.
