A shallow loch located 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Neilston and a quarter-mile (0.5) km north of Uplawmoor, on the opposite side of the A736 road from Barrhead to Irvine, Loch Libo is situated on western edge of East Renfrewshire Council Area. It is the source of the Lugton Water of North Ayrshire. The loch is owned by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, and is popular with bird-watchers, walkers and photographers. The swamp vegetation at each end of the loch supports locally uncommon plants such as cowbane, water-lilies and sedges, resulting in its designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The loch also supports a population of carp, tench, roach and pike and is exclusively fished by members of the Scottish Carp Group.
