A mountain of the Monadhliath range, Carn Dearg rises to a height of 945m (3100 feet) to the west of Newtonmore in the Badenoch and Strathspey district of Highland Council Area. It is classified as a Munro. A buttress below the summit has a sheer drop of 100m (328 feet). There are many other mountains named Carn Dearg, the nearest located 10 miles (16 km) to the west southwest.
