Leithen Hopes

A collection of valleys forming a physiographic district and an estate in the N of the Scottish Borders, Leithen Hopes surrounds the upper reaches of the Leithen Water, centred around 5 miles / 8 km north northwest of Innerleithen. It is traditionally bounded by a circle of hills; namely Dundreich, Windlestraw Law, Glede Knowe, Common Knowe, Lee Pen, Clog Knowe and Dunslair Heights. The estate is centred on Leithen Lodge, a house much expanded by the railway engineer John Miller (1805-83).
